Pan-regional broadcaster Ten Sports will broadcast to mobile television subscribers in the Middle East following an agreement with UAE mobile phone operator du.
du’s Mobile TV service charges prepaid and postpaid customers to view live selected television channels on their 3/3.5G enabled GSM handsets. du Mobile TV cricket fans who subscribe to the service will be able to watch a variety of international cricket including live action from Pakistan's tour of Sri Lanka in July and September.
“We are tremendously excited to be entering into partnership with du (and Qtel media) who have demonstrated their strong level of commitment to bring this new generation of television services to subscribers,” said Ten Sport vice president Mark Denton.
“We have worked hard to make Ten Sports available to mobile subscribers across Europe, Asia and the Middle East and look forward to rolling out our mobile offering over the coming months.”
Ten plans to make similar carriage deals with other mobile phone operators in the Middle East region and elsewhere.
Ten Sports, launched in 2001, is available in more than 75 million homes in over 75 territories.
