Scottish Rugby's is extending its deal with longest-standing sponsor The Famous Grouse for another two years.

According to UK newspaper the Telegraph, a new six-figure deal means that the whisky will have reached a landmark 21 years of support, making it one of the longest sponsorships in the history of UK sport.

"Scottish Rugby has enjoyed the support of The Famous Grouse for the past two decades and, particularly in these challenging economic times, it speaks volumes for the strength of our partnership that they have decided to once again renew that support," said Gordon McKie, Scottish Rugby's chief executive.

"Scottish Rugby is proud to have The Famous Grouse, an iconic Scottish brand, as our official spirit and continuing to give a whole new meaning to fly-half!"

Gerry O'Donnell, director of The Famous Grouse, added: "The Famous Grouse has been with Scottish Rugby since 1990, when we first sponsored the Scotland team on their tour of New Zealand hard on the heels of their Grand Slam.

"Our sponsorship of the national team through until 2007 earned The Famous Grouse the title of the longest-running national team sponsorship in the world of rugby."
