Indian broadcaster Ten Sports has lined up advertisers for the upcoming India-West Indies series that are expected to bring in revenue of Rs 300 million (£3.75 million).
Ten Sports has already sold 85 per cent of advertising space to Honda Siel, Bajaj and Tata Indicom as co-presenting sponsors for the Digicel Cup taking place in the West Indies from 26 June to 5 July. Nokia in an associate sponsor.
"We are already ahead of projections for our ad sales for the tour and are looking for more income this week," said Taj Television COO Peter Hutton.
Union Bank will sponsor the Action Replay segment while HP has branded fours and sixes. Tata Indicom will sponsor Speedgun and ITC the Third Umpire.
Taj Television-owned Ten Sports has also agreed to a Rs 30 million sublicense deal with public-service broadcaster Doordarshan. All the four one-dayers will be simulcast live on national channel DD1.
Ten Sports has also sold the television rights to the series to Fox Sports Australia, Supersport in Africa, Zee Sports America for North America, BSkyB in the UK, Starhub in Singapore and Astro in Malaysia. Ten Sports channels in the Middle East, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong and Pakistan will also telecast the event.
