Australian electronics firm Strathfield Group is considering legal action after the National Rugby League (NRL) blocked its sponsorship of the Bulldogs club.
Australian Sponsorship News reports the league said the proposed three-year sponsorship deal could not proceed due to a conflict of interest with NRL main sponsor, mobile telecommunications firm Telstra.
Strathfield Group chairman Vaz Hovanessian said the NRL and Telstra had refused to meet with him to discuss the issue, and had even rejected an offer to sponsor the Bulldogs using the name a subsidiary business that had no conflict with Telstra.
The Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg said he accepted the league’s decision, but Hovanessian said his firm believed that it was in breach of the law.
