Polo Ralph Lauren and Rolex have signed new sponsorship deals with Leisurecorp, owner of the Dubai World Championship golf competition.
Fashion brand Polo Ralph Lauren will be the official outfitter, providing clothing for officials, marshals and pro-am players under a two-year deal covering 2009 and 2010. It will also create an exclusive shirt for caddies of European Tour players to replace the traditional bib.
Watchmaker Rolex will be the official timekeeper of the European Tour, and is the first official sponsor of the Dubai World Championship. Rolex will also sponsor the 2009 South African Open, which takes place at the Leisurecorp-owned Pearl Valley Golf Estates, and the 2009 British Open, which takes place at Leisurecorp-owned Turnberry, Scotland.
The Dubai World Championship takes place in November and is the end-of-season event of the Race to Dubai series of golf competitions that replaced the European Tour Order of Merit.
Leisurecorp is a division of Middle East-based real estate developer Nakheel.
