Setanta calls Frank to raise consumer awareness

UK pay-television broadcaster Setanta Sports has called in Frank PR to handle media for two upcoming football matches.

UK pay-television broadcaster Setanta Sports has called in Frank PR to handle media for two upcoming football matches.

According to PRWeek, Frank will raise consumer awareness of its joint broadcast with ITV of the FA Cup Final and its screening of the England v Kazakhstan football match on 6 June.

The Irish-based operator has found itself in financial trouble after losing one package of live Premier League rights from 2010-11 to 2012-13. It retained only one package out of its current two, which is poised to make it harder to attract new subscribers and retain current users.

Setanta shelved a consumer account pitch aimed at strengthening its reputation in the UK three months ago after speaking to consumer agencies Pitch PR, Mischief and Mantra in February for a brand-building retained brief. Setanta marketing director Timothy Ryan said this appointment was now on hold as the broadcaster is “under¬going a strategic review and going through fundraising” and “not making any fixed appointments”.

As the first part of the campaign, Frank has helped bring 80s football institution ‘Saint and Greavsie’ back to TV for a one-off programme as part of Setanta’s unencrypted FA Cup Final coverage this weekend.
