The German football league (DFL) has agreed a three-year renewal of its Bundesliga media rights deal with Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.
The deal covers the seasons 2009-10 to 2011-12. Coverage will be shown on free-to-air sports channel CCTV5 and on the CCTV high-definition channel.
CCTV will show at least 2 live matches from the Bundesliga per matchday, as well as highlights and magazine programmes.
The press release announcing the deal said that CCTV’s exposure meant that 310 million households in China currently have access to Bundesliga coverage. The DFL-CCTV partnership extends back 15 years.
