A new rugby union competition featuring 24 teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland will begin next season.
Reuters reports that the teams will be drawn from the second tiers of the country’s competitive rugby structures. The English Championship will contribute 12; the Welsh Premiership 6; the Irish provinces three – Munster, Leinster and Ulster; and Scotland also three.
The competition will feature four pools of six teams, and matches will take place over five weekends, finishing with semi-finals and finals played on April 24 and May 15, respectively.
