Media rights in Scandinavia for the Europa League, successor to the Uefa Cup, have been split between two of the region’s biggest broadcasters – Modern Times Group and TV4.
Modern Times Group, owner of pan-Scandinavian pay-broadcaster Viasat, acquired the rights in Denmark and Norway, while Sweden’s biggest commercial broadcaster TV4, also owner of the pan-Scandinavian Canal Plus pay-channels, acquired the rights in Sweden.
In Denmark, first-choice live matches and highlights will be shown on basic-tier channel TV3+. Premium pay-channel TV2 Sport, which Modern Times Group owns jointly with Danish commercial broadcaster TV2, will show live matches.
In Norway, live matches and highlights will be shown on either TV2 Zebra or Viasat 4, both basic-tier channels, and also on pay-channels TV2 Sport and Viasat Sport.
In Sweden, pay-channel TV4 Sport will show two matches each matchweek for the majority of the competition, as well as a highlights programme.
