English football club Sheffield United will be title sponsor of this season's Hong Kong FA Cup under a new one-tournament deal.
The 2008-09 edition of the competition will be called “the Sheffield United FA Cup”. Sheffield United owns Chinese team the Chengdu Blades, whose reserve side plays in the Hong Kong league under the name Sheffield United Hong Kong. The new deal was agreed between the Hong Kong Football Assocation (HKFA) and Chengdu Blades FC Ltd.
The HKFA Sheffield United FA Cup will take place between May 12 and 31 this year, with the final taking place at Hong Kong Stadium.
