New Zealand pay-television broadcaster Sky has acquired the host broadcast rights for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
New Zealand newspaper the National Business Review reports that Sky will produce coverage of all 48 matches from the tournament, for distribution to international broadcasters and to a yet-to-be named domestic free-to-air television partner. The free-to-air package will include up to 16 key matches live.
The National Business Review says Sky is set to make around NZ$3 million in profit from its deal, despite predicted costs of around NZ$15 million.
