A new cycling tour series will bring professional team cycle races to 10 UK city and town centres this summer.
Beginning May 21 in Milton Keynes, 10 teams of five professional cyclists will take part in one-hour races around 1-1.5km street circuits, held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Each team will have eight to 10 cyclists in total, which the organisers say will include nationally and internationally renowned stars. Prizes will be awarded for team, as opposed to individual, performances.
The other nine towns and cities confirmed as venues for the tour are Exeter, Woking, Peterborough, Blackpool, Southport, Stoke-on-Trent and Chester, with the finals of the series being staged at Southend. In a press release, the organisers said each round would be televised by a major terrestrial broadcaster.
