Chinese state-owned sports broadcaster CCTV-5 will show Chinese national basketball team matches organised by the Infront agency in 2009, following a new deal between the broadcaster and the agency.
CCTV-5 will broadcast eight men’s national team matches and nine women’s national team matches played during May and June, organised as warm-ups for the FIBA Asian Men’s Championship, to be held in Chinese Taipei on August 6 to 16, and the FIBA Asian Women’s Championship, to be played in Tianjn on June 21 to 28. The Chinese teams’ opposition will include teams from the USA, Lithuania, Australia, Canada and Cuba.
Infront China, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Infront Sports & Media, arranged the matches as part of its role as exclusive commercial partner of the Chinese Basketball association, which it has held since 2006. The new deal was struck between Infront China and CCTV Sports Promotion Limited Corporation, the marketing subsidiary of CCTV-5.
