Sheikh Mansour reshapes Manchester City backroom

Manchester City FC owner Sheikh Mansour has made three new major appointments to the club’s administration team including former England international Brian Marwood.

Manchester City FC owner Sheikh Mansour has made three new major appointments to the club’s administration team including former England international Brian Marwood.

Marwood has been put charge of creating an infrastructure that will “meet Mark Hughes's requirements in terms of academy liaison, overseeing of medical, sports sciences and performance analysis, talent identification and player support.”

“The club's owners have outlined an ambitious vision for long-term, sustainable growth and these appointments represent a vital investment in our capacity to achieve our full potential as a club and as a partner in the development of new east Manchester,” said executive chairman Garry Cook.

Sheikh Mansour has been working on reshaping the staff ever since the Abu Dhabi United Group bought the club last summer.

Marwood's brief is far removed from the director of football positions that have caused so much controversy elsewhere and it is thought his expertise will allow City to create the right conditions for the club to move forward at the pace Sheikh Mansour demands.

Graham Wallace and David Pullan have also joined the club, taking the roles of chief financial and administration officer and brand and marketing officer respectively.
