The Rugby Football League (RFL) has agreed a new three-year sponsorship deal with the Co-operative for the newly re-vamped National League.
The Co-operative’s sponsorship of the Championship, the old National League, now runs through to the end of the 2012 season. The RFL now has long-term contracts in place for all its domestic competitions despite the economic downturn.
“We're in great shape,” said RFL chief executive Nigel Wood. “There are lots of reasons to be cheerful about this grade of football.”
“All the domestic sponsorships are tied up. We are just entering year four of six with Carnegie for the Challenge Cup, engage have two years left in Super League, the Co-operative have just started a new three-year deal and it's the same for Northern Rail for the knockout cup.”
Clubs outside Super League will this season be playing for a prize fund in excess of £200,000, with the champions scooping £100,000 and £50,000 going to the winners of Championship One.
