Russian oil company Rosneft has become a tier one sponsor of the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi.
Under a $180 million deal Rosneft will be the Sochi 2014 ‘general partner for oil and oil products’, as well as general partner of the Russian Olympic and Paralympic Committees until 2016, and general partner of the Russian Olympic and Paralympic teams at the 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 Games.
Rosneft’s involvement with the Olympics includes building more than 150 new petrol stations as part of infrastructure development in the Olympic region. It is also building snowcat and boat refueling facilities in Sochi to aid the city’s development as a year-round tourist destination.
Rosneft is supplying fuel on preferential terms to the Organizing Committee, the Russian National Olympic and Paralympic Committees, the Russian Olympic and Paralympic team and the State Corporation “Olympstroy” as well as allowing the use of Rosneft’s recreational and sanatorium facilities in the Southern Region of Russia.
