The BBC renewed its deal for the rights to broadcast English Premier League football highlights, securing its coverage until the end of the 2012-13 season.
Under the deal the BBC will continue to show its Match of the Day programme on Saturday and Sunday, Match of the Day 2 on Sunday evenings. Match of the Day 2 will also be available on the BBC’s on-demand internet service BBC iPlayer from 8:10pm on Tuesdays.
“The BBC’s commitment to the League, the clubs and their fans has been an undoubted success,” said Premier League chief executive, Richard Scudamore.
“The free-to-air highlights are a critical part of the Premier League’s broadcast presence, helping the competition and our clubs reach the maximum domestic audience possible, and we are pleased to see our relationship continue.”
