Thomas Cook Sport was appointed participating tour operator for the 2010 FIFA World Cup(TM) in South Africa, which will see the company operating tours from five European regions.
The company will offer Authorised Travel Packages to fans travelling from the United Kingdom but it will also sell packages through its offices in Germany, France, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Thomas Cook Sport is also an Official Licensed Operator for the British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa in 2009 and has established travel partnerships with most of the UK’s leading football clubs including, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Aston Villa.
Thomas Cook Sport’s managing director, Danny Talbot said: “The FIFA World Cup(TM) is one of the biggest events on the global sporting calendar, so we are delighted to be included as an official travel operator for this tournament. With the FIFA World Cup(TM) being held in Africa for the first time we also expect that our knowledge of the region and our long history of organising tours there will help give football fans a unique and unforgettable travel experience.”
Thomas Cook Sport’s Authorised Travel Packages for the 2010 FIFA World Cup(TM) are expected to be on sale in Summer 2009.
