Brewer SABMiller has agreed a five-year deal to have its Pilsner Urquell brand become the official beer of the The Open Golf Championships.
Trade publication Marketing reports that the new partnership will begin with the 2009 Championship at Turnberry, and will cover future events at St Andrews, Royal St George’s, and Royal Lytham and St Annes.
The deal will see Pilsner Urquell served at public and VIP hospitality facilities at The Open, and will allow SABMiller group companies to use the association with The Open in advertising and promotions around the world.
