The Football Association, English football’s governing body, announced it is cutting ticket prices for England games in an attempt to boost attendances during the economic slowdown.

Tickets to upcoming home matches against Slovakia (March 28), Ukraine (April 1), and Andorra (June 10) will be slashed by as much as 25 per cent to avoid empty seats for the World Cup qualifiers and exhibition games at Wembley.

“We want to make watching the national team as affordable as possible, particularly for families, during this difficult economic period,” said Alex Horne, FA chief operating officer, in an official statement.

In an attempt to attract families to attend international matches, in addition the FA is expanding Wembley’s family enclosure by 60 per cent, pricing tickets at £30 for adults and £15 for children.

Prices for England's friendly with Slovakia are first to be slashed and go on sale to the general public on 27 January at 10.00 am, with tickets between £30 to £40.
