Portuguese free-to-air broadcaster Sic and pay-broadcaster Sport TV agreed deals with UEFA, European football's governing body, for the media rights for the 2009-12 UEFA Europa League.
Under the deal, Sic secured a package of rights which include the broadcast of the first choice live match every matchweek together with highlights. Sport TV will show comprehensive coverage of the remaining live matches from the competition on its Sport TV 1 and Sport TV 2 channels as well as highlights.
The highlights programmes shown by each broadcaster will feature the best of the action from the competition including excerpts from all those matches involving Portuguese clubs. Each broadcaster also has the right to broadcast the UEFA Europa League Final. In addition, Sic and Sport TV will also exploit the rights on the internet via www.sic.pt and www.sporttv.pt respectively.
The deal was brokered by TEAM Marketing AG , the exclusive marketing agent of UEFA for the UEFA Europa League as well as the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.
