UEFA, European football's governing body, announced that the tender process for the media rights for Euro 2012, will be launched in early 2009.
For the purpose of this tender, Europe will be split into various major territories for which UEFA will invite media companies, including broadcasters and agencies, to submit offers for the distribution and exploitation of the media rights. The sport's governing body will ask interested parties to express and register their interest before the launch.
As per its flagship club competitions, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League, the media rights for UEFA Euro 2012 will be marketed on a platform neutral basis in order to reflect media technology convergence and to offer to media content distributors the possibility to exploit the competition across multiple platforms.
Interested parties are asked to register their interest before January 20 2009. Qualified Parties will then be provided with the appropriate tender documents on the official launch date of the tender process to be communicated in due course.
