American networks CBS Corp., and Time Warner Inc., could join forces to bid for rights for the 2014 and 2016 Olympics, according to The Associated Press.
The news service reports that discussions between the two parties, whilst only preliminary could see the competition televised on CBS plus popular cable networks TBS and TNT as well as Time Warner owned CNN, CNN Headline News, Turner Movie Classics and the Cartoon Network.
Shirley Powell, a Turner Networks spokeswoman, told the Press: "Certainly, the Olympics are a very strong sports property and something that we would have potential interest if it made economic sense for our company”.
Other potential bidders include , incumbent NBC, Fox's News Corp., Time Warner and the Walt Disney Co., which owns ABC and ESPN.
