Platinum One agrees GPA deal

Platinum One signed up the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) in a partnership that will see the agency identify and secure new sponsorships on behalf of the GPA.

The Dublin-based Sports and Events agency's task will be to expand the current portfolio of GPA sponsors which currently includes Opel, Halifax and Club Energise (Britvic Ireland) and Carphone Warehouse.

Maeve Buckley, Chief Executive of Platinum One noted “Platinum One has been aware of the commercial appeal that the GPA has in the Irish sponsorship arena for several years now. It has huge relevance, not only to brands that are well established in this marketplace, but also to international brands entering the Irish market who are looking for an intrinsically Irish property to align their brand with. Platinum One looks forward to working with the GPA in developing new and exiting partnerships with brands that complement the work done to date by the GPA.”

Platinum One is well established in the Irish sports industry. As commercial consultants to The Ryder Cup Matches at the K Club in September 2006, the agency brokered several of the major sponsorship agreements on behalf of Ryder Cup Ltd. Platinum One was the marketing and sponsorship consultants to the Smurfit Kappa European Open (1995-2007) and currently represents the commercial interests of leading professional footballers and rugby players in both Ireland and the UK, where the agency has a base in Edinburgh. In both 2007 and 2008 Platinum One produced and managed the pre-season Stage for FC Barcelona at St Andrews, Scotland.
