MPS was appointed exclusive global media rights distributor of the Speedcar Series until 2011.
Under the deal, MPS will assist organisers across all commercial aspects of Speedcar Series, Asia-Pacific’s premier annual stock car racing championships.
After a successful first season, MP & Silva will now play a broader role in steering the Speedcar Series and help organisers grow the international profile and popularity of Championships – MPS will continue to play the fundamental role of international media rights distribution, but the Singapore-based firm will also assist organisers across all commercial aspects, including identifying and securing possible revenue streams.
The new season, which spans from December 2008 to April 2009, will feature races held in six locations across Asia-Pacific, with some races held in conjunction with Formula One Grand Prix calendar. MPS has already signed extensions and new distribution deals with several key broadcasters such as Al Jazeera, ESPN STAR Sports, Abu Dhabi Sport TV and Indonesian terrestrial network, TRANS TV, with several more deals expected to be announced closer to the new season.
“We are proud of our early success, having distributed Speedcar Series to over 50 territories in the inaugural season across Middle East, Asia, and most countries in Middle East and North Africa,” said Andrea Radrizzani, Group CEO, MP & Silva. “This appointment and our expanded role bears testament to our expertise in media distribution, as well as our capabilities to launch, market and commercialise high potential sporting events.”
