High level ‘sport in the downturn’ panel assembled for launch of Weber Shandwick sport

Debating “Sport in the Downturn” will be: Richard Caborn MP, the Prime Minister’s Ambassador for the England 2018 World Cup Bid; Professor Simon Chadwick, leading sport business expert and founder of both the Birkbeck Sport Business Centre at the University of London and the Centre for the International Business of Sport at Coventry University; Jon Smith, founder and CEO of First Artist Sport, the global player representation agency; and Mihir Bose, Sports Editor of the BBC and former Business Columnist of the Year and Sports Reporter of the Year.

The event - which will also see the unveiling of new research into the effects of the economic downturn on sport - has received a strong response from organisations sponsoring sport, sports-related bodies and personalities alike.

Weber Shandwick has a long history of working with sports organisations, sponsors and stars, ranging from successful bids for the Olympic Games to working with major sponsors of events including the Formula One World Championships, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Euro 2008, the FIFA World Cup, the Olympic and Paralympic Games and European PGA Tour.
