XFMedia wins Europa League rights

Chinese media group, XFMedia, has acquired the free-to-air media rights for the UEFA Europa League for three years from European football’s governing body, UEFA.

Chinese media group, XFMedia, has acquired the free-to-air media rights for the UEFA Europa League for three years from European football’s governing body, UEFA.

Under the deal, which runs from 2009 to 2012, XFMedia will show at least one live match, a delayed match and a highlights programme each match week on NMTV. In addition, XFMedia will show all matches from the competition live on Internet and on mobile through their leading mobile service provider M-in.

In a statement to the press UEFA said: “XFMedia is a new partner of UEFA and we are excited at the prospect of developing our relationship over the coming seasons. This agreement will deliver extensive coverage for the new UEFA Europa League in the world’s most populous nation. We are confident that XFMedia will do a great job in delivering the new competition to football fans in China.”

The deal was brokered by sports marketing agency, Team.
