Soccerex will hold a tender workshop for all cities interested in hosting Soccerex events at the Soccerex Convention 2008.
The inaugural session will take place on Weds November, 26 and will feature a senior Soccerex delegation which will outline the requirements for hosting Soccerex events and the benefits cities can expect. The workshop will focus primarily on the opportunity to host the Soccerex Convention 2010 – 2014, but it will also look at Soccerex’s other event properties, the Soccerex Forums (already confirmed for next year are the London Forum 09 and the Brasilia Forum 09).
The session will feature representatives from recent Soccerex hosts, Dubai and Gauteng, who will explain the social and economic success the Soccerex Convention has generated for their region.
MEC for Sport, Art, Culture and Recreation for the Gauteng Provincial Government, Barbara Creecy, said: “While the economic impact assessment to quantify the return on investment for the province from Soccerex 2007 is still in progress, we can report that Soccerex 2007 exceeded our expectations with increased direct spending by visitors estimated to have boosted the provincial economy by at least R150 million”.
The tender workshop will be the first opportunity for cities to express their interest in hosting Soccerex 2010 – 2014. Soccerex 2008 will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Gauteng, South Africa from 23-26 November. Over 4000 delegates and 300 exhibitors from over 95 countries are expected to attend and with the Confederations Cup draw taking place in Sandton the day before, the Gauteng province will once again become the focus of the football business community.
