Michael Squires, has become chairman of specialist search and recruitment consultancy, Sports Recruitment International.
Squires, who has over 27 years experience in the global executive search industry, will work with a senior management team, which has already been strengthened by a number of key appointments, as the company builds the staff and commercial infrastructure required to support its continuing development in the UK, Europe and Asia.
His appointment is a significant step for Sports Recruitment International which re-branded earlier this year to better reflect its offering to the global sports business sector.
“This is a massive boost for the company and a statement of our intent and commitment to build a global network to serve a global business,” said Chris King, one of the company’s Founding Directors.
Michael Squires became an executive search consultant in 1982 and was appointed Chief Executive of TASA International, a Swiss-based search firm in 1994. Following TASA’s acquisition by global search giant TMP Worldwide, which includes Monster.com in its portfolio, he became Chief Executive of TMP Executive Search, based in New York, where he was responsible for revenues of over $160 million and operations in more than 20 countries.

Squires intends to enhance Sports Recruitment International’s team of consultants with experienced recruiters from sports and other sectors to help champion the search for the most talented technical, and commercial professionals in sport.
Sports Recruitment International was launched in 2001 by Founding Directors Will Lloyd and Chris King. The consultancy lists many of the world’s largest sports brands and most significant governing bodies among its clients, and delivers services tailored to sports agencies, broadcast & media, betting & gaming, corporate sponsors, clubs & teams, elite performance & participation, rights holders and sporting goods.
The company, which will shortly move to bigger premises in central London, also has teams serving Northern Europe from Amsterdam, and the sports administration heartland of Switzerland from Geneva. The opening of an office to support the development of sport in Asia is also to be announced shortly.
