Neo Sports targets Rs1.5 billion subscription revenue

Asian broadcaster, Neo Sports Broadcast is to target subscription revenues of Rs 1.5 billion this year.
The sports broadcasting company is looking at a revenue of Rs 500 million from digital platforms while analogue cable would contribute the balance Rs 1 billion.

Neo Sports Broadcast president affiliate sales, Arun Poddar, said: "We are targeting pay-TV revenues of Rs 1.5 billion. We are ramping up subscriber numbers from cable TV operators and new sales is coming from interior markets. We are also in talks with Dish TV and Sun Direct and hope to be available on their platforms soon".

Neo has inked distribution deals with new direct-to-home (DTH) service providers Big TV and Bharti Airtel Digital TV. It is also available on Tata Sky which has a subscriber base of 2.7 million. Neo has signed up with all the major multi-system operators (MSOs) except Sun Group's SCV, but Poddar said that Neo was considering a composite deal with Sun Group for cable as well as DTH.

Neo Cricket, which has the exclusive broadcast rights for all International and domestic cricket played in India, is telecasting live the four-Test series against Australia and the two Tests and seven ODI matches against England. The channel is targeting advertisement revenues of Rs 3 billion from the two series.
