Champions League rights acquired in Israel

Israeli broadcaster, The Sports Channel, has agreed a three-season deal
from 2009 to 2012 with UEFA, European football’s governing body, for
the media rights for the UEFA Champions League.

Under the deal, the broadcaster will show comprehensive coverage of the UEFA Champions League on its basic tier channel, Sport 5, as well as its pay channels Sport 5+ and 5+ Gold.  The coverage will include three live matches each match night as well as highlights, delayed matches and the UEFA Champions League magazine programme. The Sports Channel will also exploit the rights on the internet via www.sport5.co.il as well as on mobile.

The deal also includes the rights for the UEFA Super Cup in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

In a statement to the press, UEFA, said: “The Sports Channel is a longstanding partner of UEFA and we are delighted to announce the renewal of our successful relationship for a further three seasons. This agreement will ensure a fantastic level of exposure for the UEFA Champions League and we are confident that The Sports Channel will continue to excel in delivering the best of European club football to the people of Israel.”

The deal was brokered by sports rights agency, Team, the exclusive marketing agent of UEFA for the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Cup.
