PCB signs up with Dubai Sports City

The Pakistan Cricket Board signed a three-year deal with Dubai Sports City to play a various series in Dubai.

The news was confirmed by Shafqat Nagmi, Chief Operating Officer, PCB at a press conference at the Gadaffi Stadium. Mansoor Suhail, Director Media said: “Under the recently signed contract Pakistan team will play different events at the off shore venue for three years after completion of Dubai Cricket Stadium next year.”
He said the stadium is likely to be completed in February next year after which a tri-nation tournament involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be played there in April 2009.
Nagmi said the next two years programme at Dubai includes the participation of the Pakistan team in Twenty-20 events. “It is a lucrative contract which will help in overcoming the loss after postponement of Champions Trophy “, said Nagmi adding “through this deal we will be generating enough funds besides having a definite programme of our team’s participation in international cricket”.
He said he has signed the contract subject to approval of the coming Chairman of the PCB as at the time of signing of the contract, PCB was without a chairman after the resignation of Dr Nasim Ashraf.
