According to the research, there was a notable gender difference in attitudes towards Olympics with women trailing some 10 percentile points behind men in most responses on interest and viewing of Olympics sports. The percentage of people who watched a game was higher, with a total of 36 per cent saying they saw at least one match. This figure was 42 per cent among men and 30 among women.
In addition Gallup Pakistan found that 66 per cent of Pakistanis also said that they have some interest in sports events. Cricket remained the undisputed national favourite, with Kabbadi the most popular pastime in the rural areas of the country.
Interviews were carried face to face on from July 22 to23, 2008 and August 31 to September, 2008. Error margin is estimated to be approximately 5 percent at 95 per cent confidence level.
