Barra will replace Vicente Añó, who will still be linked to the project as an external consultant. The appointment was made by the B10 Organising Committee during their first meeting after the summer, which took place at the headquarters of the Championships in the Olympic Stadium.
Monica Barra has been working as Director of the General Coordinator’s Office, a position that now will be covered by Joan García, who will combine his new role with managing Accommodation and Transport. Cristina Rodríguez, who will start on October 1, will be the new Deputy Director of this department.
The committee discussed issues relating to the transport plan, sponsorship and achieving the roadmap established at the start of the project. The committee also approved the Barcelona 2010 mascot, which had won a public competition organised at the beginning of the summer. The mascot is the work of the design company from Badalona, Dortoka, owned by Josep Gurri.
