The Post reports that among NFL leaders, consent is growing, and it seems likely that such an adjustment is will be made within the next few years. Leaders are understood to be partially swayed by the potential increase in television rights fees that the move would bring. Currently, NFL games bring in approximately $3.7 billion per season in deals with US networks, NBC, Fox, CBS, ESPN and DirecTV.
The move is also expected to gain the support of NFL players who are not paid during the pre-season. Instead they are paid in 17 instalments during the regular season.
