Jon Killoran, chief executive officer of the coalition, told the Reno Gazette-Journal: "I'll be there to tell our story and do so in a fashion that we build good relationships. Our fate will be decided by a lot of people that will be in Beijing. We need to keep those doors open".
He added that the 2018 date remains ‘subjective’ because Chicago is already representing the United States as one of four cities bidding to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
A 2018 bid from the region has been under consideration for a while after reports in December 2006 that Nevada was interested in securing the 2018 Games.
