Irish pay-television broadcaster, Setanta Sports, has acquired the rights for the World Series of Golf event.

Under the deal, Setanta will broadcast four separate one-hour segments during the twelve months following the initial October broadcast. These will be shown prior to live broadcasts of PGA Tour events, in a bid to broaden the tournaments international exposure.

Terry Leiweke, Chief Executive Officer of World Series of Golf, said: "Bringing the World Series of Golf to international markets is an integral part of our business model. This agreement signifies a concerted effort to begin global expansion of our Texas Hold 'Em style of golf competition. Broadcasting our event in Europe through Sentanta, a leading sports network with rights to the PGA Tour, will help us bolster our brand recognition and generate further interest in our game. Given the over two million households that watched our US broadcast on CBS, we are confident that Setanta will generate significant interest abroad."

World Series of Golf is a sports and entertainment company whose activities include land based golf events, media, and an online, skill-based method of play for the game of golf. The company was founded in 2004.
