UKA announce £5m sponsorship deal

Food manufacturer, McCain, has agreed a £5 million sponsorship deal with UK Athletics (UKA), the sport’s governing body in the UK, for five-years, until 2013.

Under the deal, McCain will become the Principal Partner of UKA and Title Sponsor of the McCain Young Athletes League and McCain UK Challenge events to develop UK sporting talent at grassroots level.

Gerry Sutcliffe, Home Office Minister in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, said: “I fully support this partnership between McCain and UK Athletics, which I hope will encourage those who would not normally consider athletics to get involved in the sport. I hope it succeeds in finding and nurturing the champions of the future and developing grass roots talent in UK athletics in the run up to the Olympics in 2012."

The deal was brokered by sports marketing agency Fast Track on behalf of UKA.
