Verizon and AT&T agree Olympic coverage deal with NBC

US telecoms companies Verizon and AT&T will show live coverage of the 2008 Olympics Games on their mobile, IPTV and broadband platforms after agreeing distribution deals with US Olympic broadcaster, NBC.

Under the deal, Verizon will air NBC's coverage on its FiOS TV service through video-on-demand programming and live streaming footage of the competition. The carrier's will also launch two NBC high-definition channels to carry NBC's basketball and soccer coverage at the games, and will be running daily highlights, breaking news and results on its streaming wireless video service.

AT&T, which is also a sponsor of the Olympics and official telecommunications provider for the US team, show live streaming of events on its U-verse television service. In addition, mobile customers will be able to have 24-hour access to the platform’s new MediaFLO service called NBC Olympics 2Go.
