Aegon become Ajax shirt sponsor

Dutch Eredivisie football club Ajax agreed a shirt sponsorship deal with life insurance and pension group, Aegon.

The shirt sponsorship is part of a seven-year deal, worth a total of €10-€12 million, depending on the team’s performance. The newly-branded shirts will be worn by the team for the first time during a pre-season friendly tournament in Amsterdam, featuring Ajax, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Sevilla.

The Foxbusiness.com website quoted Aegon CEO Alexander Wynaendts as saying “We believe this new partnership will further strengthen Aegeon’s brand awareness, not only in the Netherlands and throughout Europe, but also in many of the new emerging markets where we are building our presence, such as Asia and Latin America.”

Aegon's other sports sponsorships include deals with, the Dutch national speed-skating federation, US golfers Zach Johnson and Taylor Leon, UK golfer Lloyd Saltman, and Czech speed-skater Martina Sablikova.
