England expected to reach World Twenty20 Cup deal

England is likely to be confirmed as the host of next summer’s World Twenty20 Cup within the next 24 hours, according to the UK's The Guardian newspaper.

England will be appointed host nation, despite the England and Wales Cricket Board's campaign to suspend Zimbabwe's ICC membership. The ECB had said it would withdraw England's hosting of World Twenty20 rather than allow Zimbabwe to participate. Zimbabwe's tour of England next summer has already been cancelled.

Under a compromise deal, the ICC is expected to stop short of suspending Zimbabwe's ICC membership, but will end Zimbabwe's participation in all major tournaments, including World Twenty20, on the grounds that their cricket standards make it unjustifiable.
