On Monday, The Times picked up a report in Estates Gazette that developers Carillion and Igloo, who are expected to contribute up to half the cost of the project, would require taxpayers money to complete it. The ODA dismissed the reports as inaccurate, and said it anticipates private sector funding coming through when planning permission for the venue is confirmed in the autumn.
“…Though the details remain commercially confidential it is not correct to say, as has been speculated, that private sector investment for the IBC/MPC (International Broadcast Centre/Main Press Centre) is in jeopardy,” a spokesman told the aroundtherings.com website. “We are confident of a significant investment from the private sector.”
The IBC/MPC contract is the third largest for the 2012 Games, after the Olympic Village and Olympic Stadium.
