PGA Tour will feature $1m ‘Kodak Challenge’

The Eastman Kodak Company (Kodak) and the PGA Tour have announced a new competition, the Kodak Challenge, taking place during the 2009 season, which will see one player walk away with a $1 million prize.

Selected PGA Tour tournaments will feature a Kodak Challenge hole; the player to post the lowest score relative to par across 18 of these holes will win the challenge.

The Kodak Challenge holes will be chosen by Kodak, the PGA Tour, and an advisory board made up of representatives from the golf industry, who will make their decision on the basis of the aesthetic beauty of the holes and their “connection to memorable moments in the game of golf”.

“Players simply have to do what they do best – play. But with a million dollars on the line, they might just grip the club a little tighter,” said Jeffrey Hayzlett, chief business development officer and vice president at Kodak.

The Kodak challenge is part of a six-year marketing partnership agreed earlier this year between Kodak and the PGA Tour, that includes corporate hospitality and Kodak branding on digital scoreboards.
