Record traffic on Man Utd website

Manchester United’s successful finish to the 2007-08 season was reflected in record results for its website in May 2008, which attracted over 5.4 million unique users from across the globe.

Traffic on the website is currently trebling every two years. The figures this season were boosted by the launch of Chinese, Japanese and Korean versions of the website. Prior to May’s record-breaking figures, April 2008 was the previous best month.

Manchester United’s website has been developed, and is managed, by IMG Media, in a partnership which stretches back to 1998.

Mark Hargreaves, General Manager, Manchester United Interactive said: “It’s been a magnificent end to the season which has culminated in a huge surge of traffic to the official websites. There has been a real team effort both on and off the pitch in which editorial, design and hosting teams have all played a key role in delivering great content to our fans.”

Patrick McNerney, Senior Vice President of IMG, said: “For more than 10 years, IMG has provided Manchester United digital solutions, in which time Manchester United have constantly strived to push the digital boundaries whilst remaining loyal and relevant to their audience. IMG looks forward to continuing to help the club build their online audience and retain their number one position on the web.”
