Ernst & Young to be consultant partner of Sochi 2014

The Sochi 2014 Organising Committee appointed international audit and consulting company Ernst & Young as consultant partner for the selection of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

”We have given the consultant a very difficult task,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko, President and CEO of Sochi 2014. “It is necessary to define functional requirements for a corporate information system which will function in a constantly changing organizational structure. For example, during the preparation and execution of the Games, the number of Sochi 2014 staff will increase by 1000 times, but after 2014 it will decrease sharply. Ernst & Young is well acquainted with the specifics of Olympic organizations thanks to its experience in implementing this type of work for Organising Committees of other Olympiads. I’m sure that our collaboration will be effective and that all tasks will be accomplished on time and correctly.”

James Turley, Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young Global, said: "Our firm has international experience in the preparation for Olympic Games. We are planning to work with the Organizing Committee as a professional advisor and auditor to prepare for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. This is an important and significant project for us.”

The introduction of the ERP system will raise the Organising Committee’s effectiveness and ensure the transparency of its activity. The ERP system will automate the core business processes in finance, human resources, procurement and logistics.

Ernst & Young will analyse the business processes of Sochi 2014 and will elaborate a list of functional requirements for the IT system based on its experience in IT consulting and preparation for Olympic Games.

In July/August 2008, Ernst & Young will support Sochi 2104 in organizing a tender to select a software provider. The ERP system is due to be fully operational by the spring of 2009.
