Leicester Tigers sign up with Caterpillar

English rugby union team the Leicester Tigers has agreed a five-year, £6 million shirt sponsorship and naming rights agreement with construction and mining equipment manufacturer Caterpillar.

The sponsorship will run from the start of the 2008-09 season. Caterpillar will replace construction materials supplier Bradstone as the Tigers’ shirt sponsor, and have naming rights for the new North stand at the club’s Welford Road stadium. The building of a new 10,500-seat North stand is part of a £60 million development of the stadium which will see its total capacity increased from 17,500 to 30,000.

The new sponsorship deal is believed to be the biggest in European club rugby.
