PGA TOUR Completes S&T Conference Sponsorship Panel Line-up

Paul Johnson, Senior Vice President of New Media at the US PGA TOUR will be joining the post-lunch panel discussion entitled ‘Creating new opportunities for sports sponsors through technology’ at Sport and Technology: The Conference 2008, in association with BT Media and Broadcast, on 13 June 2008 at BT Centre in London.

A popular speaker at the inaugural Sport and Technology: The Conference in 2005, Johnson has been with the PGA TOUR since November 2000 overseeing strategy and development for new media platforms, new venture opportunities, video gaming and the PGAtour.com website. Johnson was voted one of Sports Business Journal’s Top Forty Under 40 in 2006.

Moderated by Kevin Roberts, Editorial Director, SportBusiness Group, the ‘Creating new opportunities for sports sponsors through technology’ panel will also be joined by Anil Malhotra, SVP Marketing & Alliances, Bango; David Jamieson, Head of Content Management, BT Media and Broadcast; John Taylor, Chairman, Sports Impact; and Steve Wallage, Head of Sports Partnerships and Services, Orange UK.

Panellists will discuss how digital technologies such as Mobile TV and virtual animation are creating new routes to market for sports sponsors. They will answer questions such as: How has new media been utilised by sports properties and their sponsors so far and have their efforts been far reaching enough and/or effective? How can brands use technology as part of their marketing campaigns successfully? How are they measuring the impact of digital technology? Is technology the best route to reaching younger audiences? Do sponsors tend to think about technology before sponsoring a property, or is it up to the rights owner to show them the way? How can sponsors maximise opportunities from social networking sites and/or virtual reality environments such as Second Life?

Now in its fourth year, Sport and Technology: The Conference 2008 is bringing together its expected strong array of leading sports properties and technology/digital solutions providers to discuss what's hot and what's not in the fast-paced world of technology and sport through illuminating panel discussions, definitive keynote addresses and an innovative showcase section.
