The inaugural Basketball World Club Championship will take place in October 2009.
The championship will feature eights sides from around the world – two from the Americas, two from Europe and one each from Africa, Asia and Oceania – plus a team from the event’s host city.
Bidding for the right to become host city will begin in June 2008.
