New company to steer England World Cup 2018 bid

The English FA is to set up a new company to manage a £15 million bid to host football’s World Cup 2018 in England.

FA Chairman, Lord Triesman will begin a search for a Chairman and a Chief Executive, and hopes to have a complete team within six months.

The FA said: ‘The board approved the setting up of a 100 per cent-owned subsidiary company within the FA to manage the bid. This would be governed by an executive board made up of a bid chairman, a bid chief executive, the FA chairman Lord Triesman and two deputy chairmen.’

The structure will reflect the successful 2012 Olympic Games bidding team. The World Cup bid is expected to focus on the legacy a World Cup in England would leave for the world game.
