Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has spoken to numerous Fortune 500 companies in the US and internationally about putting their name on the estimated $1.1 billion stadium, which is scheduled to open in 2009.
Arlington Mayor Dr. Robert Cluck revealed that AT&T is likely to be one of the contenders. "I do believe AT&T is one they have talked to," he told the Dallas Morning News. "AT&T is a great name. I've had a lot of contact with them because of the Cotton Bowl coming to the stadium. I think the Cowboys will pick a very, very strong company with which to name the stadium."
AT&T is the title sponsor of the Cotton Bowl game, which will move to the new stadium in 2010.
According to Forbes magazine, the Cowboys are the world's most valuable sports franchise at $1.5 billion.
